First it was Oculus Rift and then the Samsung VR Headset has made its way onto the scene. Next?
That’s right, Fiat Chrysler is making the quantum leap to the future (which is today) on the coattails of VR. A prototype of the headset was just revealed in Barcelona and Accenture Digital is announcing a Summer reveal here in the states. According to Accenture Digital, the customer will be able to walk into the dealership, put on a headset and have a completely 3-D/360 degree experience in looking over the car at any position imaginable. Customers could even “open doors” with the headset.
Accenture continues by claiming customers can …”walk freely around a full-scale vehicle in almost any environment because Project Tango enables an untethered, handheld experience that does not rely on external tracking technology such as markers, beacons or GPS..."
Virtual Reality is only beginning to make an appearance. Expect many more examples of this new technology being utilized within the POP industry.
